Tsk Tsk Cake Boss

Tuesday, April 9th, 2013

I’m all about giving away cakes and making people feel good, but at a recent event in Philly the Cake Boss’ own Buddy V. was handing out cakes and making people wait in line for HOURS! One man, who cut the line and went to storage (to take one of thousands of cakes – as there were more than enough to go around), was arrested by police (ok, ok, he also stole a laptop). In fact, the police released a statement how the event caused bad blood… people were cutting, fighting in line and causing quite a commotion. NO WONDER! Stand a bunch of hungry sweet-tooths in a line, make them wait, and starve, then see what happens. It’s a recipe for disaster.

By the way – there’s NEVER a line at Bakemeawish.com, where you can have your cake order done in only 5 minutes and schedule your cake delivery whenever you please. :)

Hostess and Drake’s back on shelves this Summer!

Friday, March 15th, 2013

Well, that’s some encouraging news for all us snackers out there! Hostess and Drake’s will be back on the shelves very soon, having been purchased by a variety of food manufacturers and brands. Sure, a lot of negative things can be said about what occurred with the brand, and the nasty things the executives have done, but it’s nice to see these brands resurrected. They are truly part of American pop-culture.

Friday, February 1st, 2013

Of course, we say that in jest – well sorta.  Over on The Daily Meal, they’ve listed the 10 most expensive cakes they could find.  Sure, it really has nothing to do with the ingredients, but just to see the lengths people will go to give a cake that extra bling – jewery, diamods, gold…. check out the slide show:

Oh No! It’s the Apocalypse… What to bake!?

Thursday, August 18th, 2011

Have you seen this? Apocalypse Cakes, written by Shannon O’Malley takes a look at the humorous side of the end of the world through some very politically incorrect writing and cake designs. What started out as a self published project, turned into a collection of wild and wacky cake recipes. Introduced to us by the San Joe Mercury News, this laughable delight is available to purchase through Amazon. The Mercury News has a recipe posted for Economic Collapse Crumb Cake via the link above – very fitting for the past couple of weeks (I’ll have to give that one a try)!

You can pick up your copy from Amazon by clicking on the image below – but there’s only 5 in stock right now! Great gift for the baker in your life with a sense of humor!

Enjoy – Joe

On the note of expensive cakes…

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

This one may cost the baker a pretty penny! There was a People’s Court case posted on YouTube last month about a woman who received a misspelled cake for her daughter’s party – while we feel for the woman (the cake’s frosting was also cracked), suing the baker for $4300 when the cake cost $55 is a little obscene. Granted, if you have a problem with your $55 cake with Bake Me A Wish – we’ll reship or refund with no hassle… couldn’t the baker just give the woman her money back on the cake? Watch and judge for your self! (special thanks to cakewrecks.com for pointing this one out!)

Politician Spends too much on Cake – naturally!

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

Can’t politicians get anything right? We know that these custom cakes can run a pretty penny, but color our frosting shocked when we found out that our very own New York Gov. Cuomo spent $600 on a birthday cake!  Ok, it probably wasn’t him directly, but as reported by the Daily News, his birthday cake purchase was listed as an “office expense” on his campaign finance filing!  Sure – it’s in the shape of New York and has lots of features, but look, times are hard… do we really need $600 birthday cakes?  Bake Me A Wish! would have shipped him one for under $50.00!  :)

I mean really – that’s somebody’s paycheck for a week.

Check out the article by Celeste Katz here:  disregard those comments Celeste – I think you’re cool for pointing this out!
