Last week, you amazed us with your creative responses to the fill in the blanks contest.

This week, we are asking for something a bit different. First off, tell us your favorite Bake Me A Wish cake flavor and then tell us why.  How do you win?  In the first round, we’ll decide on the most popular cake flavor, based on the responses we receive.   In the second round, we’ll create a survey of the top 10 responses and ask you, our readers, what the best review was for our most popular flavor.  Based on your responses in the survey, we’ll choose a winner and they will receive their favorite flavor!

We’re looking for fun, touching, hilarious, exciting cake reviews from you!

Example: ” My favorite flavor is red velvet cake because my mother used to always tell me that the cake turns red from little fairies who have crushed chocolate berries into the flour. The Bake Me A Wish Red Velvet Cake tastes just like hers— but their cream cheese frosting is unbelievable!”

Top Cake Maker: A Profile of Amanda Oakleaf

Amanda Oakleaf is an artist– but our favorite kind of an artist– a cake artist! Can you think of something better than an object that is both beautiful and delicious? Nope, neither can we.


Starting out making cakes as a part time job, she has since developed the cake line into a widely popular business in Winthrop MA (close to Boston) and will be opening a storefront on April 17th. Why is she so popular? We think it probably has to do with the true artistry of her cakes. That and she makes everything including the fondant from scratch ( a secret marshmallow based recipe!). It comes as no surprise that Miss Oakleaf spent years studying oil painting and fine art, both privately and at acclaimed art institutions such as the Massachusetts College of Art & Design.

As the Boston Herald reported: Oakleaf developed a product that she believes is so different from what is readily available that she has little competition. She sits with each customer to discuss the event and the design of the cake. She can match the invitations, the decor or the theme of the party. The special service isn’t cheap. The cake will cost more than one chosen off the shelf, but it will be unique.

Recipe Round-Up: 5 Tempting Cakes for April

We make a pretty wide selection of cakes, but there are always more to find! As such, we thought it’d be fun to bring you a little monthly roundup of great recipes. However, what we’d really love is to have you share your favorite cake recipesl. Who knows the best recipe might even be made into a special edition Bake Me A Wish cake! (I’m thinking chocolate peanut butter strawberry marshmellow layer cakes……. mmmm… sugar overload!).

5 Cakes That Make You Think Twice Before Eating

Cake… yum… I could eat cake for breakfast! (Would you be alarmed if I told you that I did eat a giant piece of the Triple Chocolate Enrobed Brownie Cake this morning…. Shhh! Don’t tell!) That being said, sometimes, there are cakes that make me step back for a second (but really for just a second. The following cakes  win my list of top 5 Gross Cakes for the Week (eewwww….squid!):
