- RSVP here or on the facebook page (www.facebook.com/bakemeawish)

- If you’ve won a BMAW cake in the past 6 months, you are not eligible for this event.

WEIRD CAKE FACT

Monday, July 12th, 2010

Did you know that instead of adding oil, eggs and water to cake mix, you can just add a can of soda?

We didn’t either until reading this fun tip from Reader’s Digest.

Short on eggs and oil but yearning for a piece of cake? If you have soda in the house, you have no worries. Most packaged cake mixes direct you to add 3 eggs and 1/4 cup of oil to the mix. But the thing is, you don’t have to. Here is a way to bake a cake without either eggs or oil that will result in a cake that is delicious — and lower in fat and cholesterol.

1. Take out your packaged cake mix. Any flavor will work.

2. Grab a can of your favorite soda. Use diet soda for the fewest calories.

3. Ignore the directions on the box — don’t add eggs, water, or oil. Just add one can of soda.

4. Bake for the amount of time suggested on the cake mix. You will have a delicious cake — and eat it, too!

Happy Birthday, Tom Hanks!

Friday, July 9th, 2010

tomhanks

Tom Hanks was born on this day in 1956.

Did you know?

Tom Hanks, believes he’s related to “James Hanks”, who was the father of “Nancy Hanks”, who was Abraham Lincoln’s mother.
Tom Hanks enjoys listening to music, particularly to “The King”: Elvis Presley, Patrick Rondat and Alabama Thunderpussy, a metal band that hails from Richmond, Virginia.

A little known fact about Tom Hanks is that he’s reportedly a huge fan of “Star Trek.” He was asked to play the role of “Zefram Cochrane” in “Star Trek: First Contact” (1996), but he had already signed on to play in “That Thing You Do!”.

On Veterans Day in 1999, the U.S. Navy gave Hanks the Distinguished Public Service Award.

What’s not to love? HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. HANKS!
