Hi Everyone – with holiday gifting in full swing, we wanted to ensure that you were aware of our most frequently asked questions regarding cake deliveries. Just remember that your cake must be ordered by Thursday, 12/23 at 4pm to ensure its there in time for Christmas!

Can I be sure my cake will be delivered on time?

Absolutely. There is no recreating the experience of receiving a cake on the actual day of one’s birthday, and we are committed to fulfilling this pledge to our customers. For your own peace of mind, we also provide direct access to the shipment process through our Cake Tracker so you can see precisely when your order is received. Please be advised that orders must be fully entered by 4:50pm Eastern for the cake to arrive next day. 

At what time will my gift cake be delivered?

It depends. If you choose to have a cake delivered via the standard 2-Day service or Overnight (“Next Day Air Saver”), UPS guarantees delivery by end of day, up to 7:30pm local time (though most deliveries occur by 5pm). You may also choose to send your gift cake via UPS A.M. Service, for which delivery is guaranteed by 12pm local time. The additional charge for A.M. Service is either $5.00 (if shipping via 2-Day service — businesses only) or $10.00 (if shipping via Overnight service — residential and business addresses accepted). Aside from the morning delivery service option, we are otherwise unable to request specific delivery times, as it will depend on when your recipient’s local UPS driver makes their rounds.

What if my gift arrives late or is damaged?

On-time delivery is of utmost importance to us and our delivery service provider UPS. If you experience complications with the delivery of your order you may be eligible a refund on your shipping amount or the total order amount if the cake is damaged. Please notify us by clicking here and sending your name, contact information and order number. A Bake Me A Wish! representative will contact you shortly thereafter to resolve the matter. Please be advised that we must receive notification no later than 14 days after the package is received in order to process a reship or refund.

I need a cake delivered tomorrow. What is the latest time I can place an order?

In order to have a cake shipped via UPS Overnight service for delivery the following day, your order must be fully submitted into our system by 4:50PM Eastern Time at the latest. Orders placed after 4:50PM Eastern Time on Monday through Friday, or after 9:50AM Eastern Time on Saturday, will be processed the following business day. 

How does the cake stay fresh?

We spent the better part of a year testing various methods for delivery, consulting with some of the most experienced packaging engineers. Our system is tried and true, utilizing various components such as dry ice, polystyrene, and ice gels to keep your gift secure and fresh.

What kind of ingredients do you use?

We use only the finest ingredients with — yes — creamy frostings, German chocolate, cane sugars, sweet butter and all the other great things that make cakes delicious and indulgent. If you have any questions or concerns regarding a specific ingredient in any of our cakes (for allergies, etc.), please check with us directly before placing an order. Please note, we do not offer any cakes that are eggless, sugar-free, dairy-free nor gluten-free.

Can I add a personalized message?

In many respects, your thought and message is the gift and our cake is the icing on the… well, you get the idea. As part of the checkout process simply select an occasion and the appropriate greeting card will be registered, then fill your text. Remember, this is a gift, so your recipient will not know who has sent the cake unless you fill in the card! 

Can I send a gift cake to a college or university?

What about a hotel or other business institutions?

Yes. However, most colleges (as with hotels, state-side military bases and other places of business) have their own protocol for receiving packages. We highly recommend contacting the place to which you wish to send the gift cake and find out information regarding their on-site mail process. Most colleges/hotels/businesses will not give the UPS driver access to their grounds/facilities in order to search out a recipient directly, so the package must be received by a central location (college/dorm mail center, front desk/reception, shipping dock, etc.). Once received, the mailing center shall either deliver the package to your recipient or alert him/her of its arrival for pick-up. Additionally, many schools/businesses/bases can only be delivered Monday-Friday, and do not allow for Saturday deliveries. Given the perishable nature of our gift cakes, it is always best to find out as much information as possible before ordering to ensure your gift is received in a timely manner (i.e., how to fill out the UPS shipping label properly, where specifically the cake will be delivered to, who will sign for it, etc.). 

Can I have a cake delivered internationally?

No. Aside from the cakes we’re able to send overseas to US Military APO and FPO addresses, our gift cakes can only be delivered domestically within the US (as the risk of getting a perishable product through international Customs and delivered before going bad is just too high). 

Does your company help me to keep track of birthdays?

Yes — this is one of our best features. Simply put the birthdays of your associates, friends, or loved ones in our calendar and we will send you a notification asking your final approval to send out your cake when the important date rolls around. If no one is home at the time of delivery, will my gift cake be left at the front door?

The answer to this question is both Yes & No. Yes, if shipping to a location deemed “safe to leave” by the UPS driver. However, they will most likely not leave packages outside of locations in large cities, offices, apartments, or anywhere in which public display and accessibility is apparent. This is for both safety and security reasons. Please be advised that whether or not a package can be left outside a recipient’s address is solely at the UPS driver’s discretion. If the package cannot be left outside, a UPS door notice will be left to communicate that a package delivery has been attempted, and re-delivery will occur automatically on the next business day (alternatively, pick-up can also be arranged at the local UPS facility if your recipient so chooses). 

Will you call my recipient before delivery is attempted?

No. UPS drivers do not carry company cell phones, so they cannot contact your recipient ahead of time. We request your recipient’s phone number be noted when placing an order, but that is only for our records (in the event the UPS driver cannot locate an address, etc.). Additionally, UPS drivers cannot contact your recipient in the event of an incorrect shipping address. If a delivery cannot be made on account of an even partially incorrect shipping address, we will be notified of the delivery exception and will do our best to correct it, and the cake will be delivered the following business day (as the package must first go back to the local UPS facility in order to be re-scanned into their system with the corrected address information).

What if I need to change the shipping address of my package, or if I realize after the fact that I entered part of the shipping address incorrectly — will my cake still be delivered on time?

Possibly. In the event we’re notified of an incorrect shipping address, we will do our best to fix the situation promptly. We contact UPS directly to update the shipping information, but timing of the updated delivery depends upon the distance from the original location to the updated address. In most cases, delivery to the new address will occur the following business day, as the cake must first be taken back to the local facility to be resorted. If the original zip code is close enough to the altered destination zip code, UPS will do their best to get the cake there the same day (though not guaranteed). Please be advised that in the event we need to update/correct a shipping address (due to an incorrect street name or number, city, state and/or zip code) for a cake that has been shipped, you will be charged an additional $11.00 fee, which is our cost with UPS for making a change.

Are the cakes kosher?

Yes, all our cakes are Chof-K certified. 

I have two discount codes; can I combine these offers?

No. Bake Me A Wish!’s discount policy does not allow two or more discounts to be combined. You will receive the higher of the two discounts. 

You sometimes run a promo offering “Free 2-Day Shipping” on a specific cake. What does that mean?

The free 2-day shipping promo we offer from time to time can only be applied to orders placed at least two days in advance of the delivery date, and for arrival on a Wednesday-Friday of a given week. As UPS does not deliver on Sundays, 2-day shipping service cannot be applied to Monday and Tuesday deliveries (which must ALWAYS be sent via Overnight service). Saturday deliveries also carry an additional surcharge, per UPS.
