in 1993 I was called into my boss’s boss’s office only to be told that I was ‘surplus’ . If he is still alive, I’d love to throw a cake in his face. Bad enough getting laid off, but calling someone ‘surplus’ – what an insult. This is the SAME person who had insisted that everyone in his organization work 10% overtime to show that they needed more people. How stupid a goal was that – to put in 44 hours rather than what should be accomplished in that additional time.
