I don’t know when it specifically became my job to look up gross cakes on the internet but let me tell you, the whole thing makes me wildly uncomfortable. First off, I am still confused who the people are who eat these cakes or if it is just an online fetish for people to make the most disgusting cakes.  Honestly. when did we stop wanting red velvet cake and instead crave a rat shaped cake? Yes, here I am on my soap box.

Do you want to know my secret theory? I’m telling you anyway. I think there is one person somewhere in the US who just sits in his basement and dreams up gross cakes and then floods the internet with these photos. If there is, I’d like to meet him.

“Yesterday, the UPS man knocked at my door and I squealed with delight! Yes, you can remind me of that later on, lol! But the reason for the squeal? He was delivering my Triple Chocolate Enrobed Brownie Cake! The cake was positively divine! I had a little wedge, but you see, the rest of my family was home plus a couple of our married college age kids were dining with us and that cake was gone before you could say, “Would you like a slice?”"

The chocolate cake came in a sophisticated gold gift box and was carefully wrapped in plastic to maintain freshness. When I placed the cake on the table in front of my kids, my oldest daughter exclaimed it was too pretty to eat. It sure didn’t stop them from grabbing forks to dig in though! It was difficult to take only one bite to taste this, but I managed to stop at just one bite before grudgingly handing the rest over to my children. They didn’t seem to mind that I couldn’t have more of the cake and devoured every forkful of cake until it was gone. I was glad it was a personal sized cake so the portions were just right for four small children.

The kids and I were in agreement that the Double Fudge Crunch Cake had a brownie like cake texture. Now, I am not a big brownie person. In fact, brownies don’t appeal to me at all and I usually pass them up at parties and get togethers. However, this cake was also topped with a chocolate chip and cinnamon oat streusel with dark chocolate glaze drizzled over it. To me, that is what made the cake! The streusel was crunchy and chewy and I love dark chocolate… well, almost any kind of chocolate is good, but the dark chocolate glaze was decandent! The cake was adorned with a decorative chocolate plaque imported from Belgium that said thank you and my thoughts were, no, thank you for such a delicious and delectable treat that our family thoroughly enjoyed!
